At Château des Ages, love and contentment... A happy childhood for Jeanne-Elisabeth.

Sainte Jeanne-Elisabeth

Thus, the Congregation of the Sisters of the Cross is born to Glorify God and have Him glorified by the humble and the poor.

A life captured by God, the Gospel, the poor.

Born in Le Blanc, Indre, France, on July 5, 1773,

Died at La Puye on August 26, 1838

The needs of the poor are everywhere... To respond to these needs, Elisabeth tirelessly opens new communities of Sisters. From all over France, young girls come to share in her dream.

In search of a direction for her life, she shares with her people, the turmoils of the French Revolution and the suffering of the Church.

A meeting with André-Hubert... The poor await... the children need education, the sick need caring and compassion, the devastated Church calls.

Elisabeth becomes truly a sister for the humble and the needy. In 1807, with four other young women, she consecrates her life to God.
